Kevin Joseph McDermott

Kevin J McDermott, 60, of Grant Park, IL, formerly of Hazel Crest, South Chicago Heights, and Manteno, IL passed away suddenly on May 13, 2025. He was born on September 18,1964 in Blue Island, IL to Robert and Jean McDermott, of Hazel Crest, IL. He is survived by his spouse Amy (Bewsey)McDermott of 33 years. Kevin had served in the U.S. Army and had worked as a cold heading operator and quality control inspector for Continental Midland in University Park, IL for numerous years and most currently at Mama Grassano’s Pizza in Manteno as a deliveryman. He was an avid sports fans and always enjoyed watching and attending his favorite teams including the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, Chicago Blackhawks and Notre Dame. What was most important to Kevin was spending time with his family. He loved hosting big parties and entertaining everyone with his goofy sense of humor and his familiar greeting “whaaatss uup”. He had an appreciation for meeting new people, helping anyone he could, donating his time at the Veterans Home in Manteno, good music, laughter and meticulous yard work. He loved his pets Layla and Oakley. He was devoted to hard work and providing for his family. He lived his life with gratitude, simply and humbly. Also surviving is his beloved daughter, Delaney McDermott of Grant Park, IL, daughter in-law Laura McDermott, siblings Patricia File, Robert McDermott Jr. (Sheryl Smith), Michael (Marie) McDermott, Maureen McDermott, Duffy (Dawn) McDermott, Mary McDermott (John Freedom), Kathleen (Don) Bridges, mother and father in-law Darrell and Jody Bewsey, sister and brother in-law/cousin Patrick (Lynn) McDermott. Additionally, Kevin was so blessed in his life by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, whom he loved dearly, and many cherished life-long friendships. Preceded in death by: Beloved son Dylan McDermott, parents Robert and Jean McDermott, brother Matthew McDermott, paternal and maternal grandparents, and many other loved ones. Cremation rites coordinated by Evergreen Cremations, Kankakee, IL. Private Interment will be held on May 23rd at All Saints Cemetery and Mausoleum, Bourbonnais, IL. A Celebration of Life gathering is currently being coordinated, and details will be forthcoming.
